XFuels Opens New Chapter In Thohoyandou

When an oil giant’s filling station is knocked down to make way for an up and coming brand, you know the landscape is shifting. That is exactly what has happened on the main road into Thohoyandou, where XFuels has unveiled its latest branded site. The opening of this filling station does not only mark another addition to the company’s retail footprint but is also a bold statement of where the market is heading.
“This is more than a rebuild. It is a reaffirmation that South African motorists are ready for a fresh, proudly local alternative,” said Wynand Scheepers, Chief Operating Officer at XFuels. “Every new XFuels site proves that the appetite for change is real. Consumers are not only open to emerging brands. They are actively supporting them. The Thohoyandou site is a perfect example of that momentum.”
The opening of the Thohoyandou station also celebrates the first collaboration between XFuels and OK Express and brings fuel and convenience together in one stop. Customers can shop for groceries at the same prices they would find at other well-known local supermarkets, or through fast delivery service options and apps. It also includes a Deli, ideal for grabbing lunch on the go.
Marius Beukes, Divisional Manager of the OK Franchise, commented on the partnership: “Our collaboration with XFuels is built on shared values. Both brands are committed to quality and investing in local communities. Our goal is to make quality products and everyday convenience readily available where it matters most.”
Owners Samir Patel and Sameer Mathia bring a wealth of business experience, local knowledge and energy to the operation. Their goal is to offer more than just fuel, aiming to provide a space that serves the everyday needs of the community. From topping up tanks and purchasing lubricants, to picking up groceries and everyday convenience items, even grabbing a quick bite, the team is ready and willing to serve. And they are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day!
Thohoyandou, meaning ‘head of the elephant’ in Venda, is a town rich in culture and history. It is home to the University of Venda and is one of the fastest-growing towns in Limpopo. With its vibrant community and strategic location, Thohoyandou continues to develop as a hub of opportunity and progress.
For XFuels, this is part of a broader retail strategy focused on expanding its footprint and revitalising underused locations. The Thohoyandou site is a testament to the brand’s commitment to bringing quality services to communities where they are needed most.
